Instagram Reels video size
Instagram Reels are designed to be viewed full-screen, vertically, and on mobile devices. With that in mind, the best way to make sure your Reels are the correct size is to shoot and edit your video posts directly on your phone.
Whether you’re shooting for Instagram feed videos or longer content, maintaining the right video resolution ensures you stand out — so focusing on the ideal size is key.
Instagram Reels video guidelines are:
- Size and dimension: 1080 by 1920 pixels
- Frame rate: 30 FPS
- Max file size: 4GB
- Aspect ratio: 1.91:1 and 9:16
- Video length: 3 seconds to 15 minutes. (However, in-app recording is limited to 90 seconds, though users can upload videos up to 15 minutes)
- Recommended video formats: MP4, MOV
- [Optional] Bitrate: Use a high-quality video codec such as AAC for better audio output
Note: In-feed videos are now considered Reels. This means that any video posted directly to your Instagram feed will automatically be categorized as a Reel, even if it’s not recorded through the Reels feature.
